Originally from Japan, I moved to Cape Town in 1997. I have been practicing as a trainer, behaviour practitioner and Tellington TTouch practitioner for the past ten years. I have been an animal lover since a child and my family always had dogs, but I never thought of becoming a trainer or behaviourist. As long as I can remember, companion dog trainer and behaviour consultants were non-existent at that time in Japan. After leaving Japan I finally settled in Cape Town and my old passion for animals resurfaced. My partner and I decided to get a German Shepherd puppy, named Takuma. Taking him to puppy training changed my entire career path. I then enrolled in the Tellington TTouch Practitioner Course in 2007, the Training and Applied Behaviour courses with ThingkingPets in SA and COAPE (Centre of Applied Pet Ethology) in the UK. Later, Tammy, the Africanis, joined us at the age of about 6.
Until both of them passed at the age of 13 and 14, they taught me so many things. (In fact, all animals are great teachers for us!) They proved that even at the age of 12, 13 years old, dogs could learn new things. Yes, folks, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
My goal is empowering dog owners and their dogs, helping them enjoy life together and thrive together! For my consultation, training and workshops, I use science-based positive reinforcement method, training games, and Tellington TTouch techniques. All of them are positive, fun, dog-friendly and people-friendly!
